Tech 2 review working for for Cadillac and Hummer H3

My Tech 2 clone finally got here. Took a few weeks to get it but it looks great so far. Now I just have to figure out how to use it properly lol. I was looking into scanners and most can’t read anything but engine codes. Did some research on some other forums and a bunch of people have had really good luck with these clones.

Got a chance to try it out today on my wife’s Cadillac and my Hummer h3. She has been having an issue with her abs light coming on then going off. I suspected a wheel sensor but my blue tooth scanner wouldn’t pick it up. Hooked up the tech 2 and scanned the brake module for codes and I got c0050 for the right rear abs sensor.

Also I did a check of all 28 modules in the car and pulled some misfire codes even no CEL was on. The cool thing is that it records the event so you can see exactly what was happening at the time the code occurred. For instance the c0050 shows me steering angle, speed, and a whole bunch of other things. The misfire codes shows me engine speed (rpm), ect, iat, spark, o2, maf, etc.

My h3 has had a CEL on – po452. I wanted to check it with the tech 2. Well it pulls 3 codes, po455 (large evap leak), po442 (small evap leak), and po449 (vent solenoid control).

Overall, I am very impressed with the quality and capabilities. I don’t see any reason why I won’t be able to program modules, etc. I will need to get the Tis2000 software loaded up for that.

How is the icarscan different from the icarsoft POR II i960

3-1

Question:
I was hoping to do the hybrid clutch fluid replacement and clutch adaptation service myself, and was wondering if this is what’s needed, since the alldatadiy manual points to PIWIS for this service and doesn’t provide much of any info on how to perform it.

Answer:

I have been in touch with the Launch X431 iCarsoft maker and they are working on new software for Boxster/Cayman that will provide much more functionality across all areas.

I only mention ICARSCAN now (since this thread is not about that model) as once the new SW is available, I will work on setting up a GB in hopes of saving us some money.

No details on the discount, but we’d need at least 15 units so we can order directly from OBD2TOOL at the distributor price.

How to get ODIS 4.3.3 For VAS 5054A

Bad clones of VAS5054A not gonna work with this version 4.3.3.

Even those that works with ODIS 4.2.3.

17-1

I mean, VAS5054a clones work on 4.3.3 with PDU 041 only. But not working with PDU 042

For bad clones just need to downgrade PDU from 042 to 041

Remove EDIC 1.20.42 from PC

Then install this older EDIC attached:

https://mega.nz/#!URV1nLwa!mn6xoEUmQeyCwhes1tDB6qvp20trgDUYy6BVNxRnLUk

If you should check post install (before you plug in your device) in Add/Remove programs you should see Softing D-PDU API V1.20.042 EDIC_D_PDU_API_OE/OS
Remove these from PC and reboot (just in case)
Install the EDIC provided above with version 041
Then plug in your device and test

I myself have not tested the above, but I think I works

But if you want use ODIS easily for VAS 5054A clone head, choose ODIS 4.2.3 From obd2tool.com. It’s a tested version, confirmed to work no issues

Good luck!
